Caravan Window & Door Replacement Guide
Choosing replacement caravan windows starts with the size and shape of the opening in your wall. Glazing, frame construction, opening controls, blinds and flyscreens then determine how the window works in everyday use.
VanDIY’s SJRV range features double-glazed flat acrylic push-out windows with aluminium frames, integrated block-out blinds and flyscreens. Multiple sizes suit caravan renovations, replacement installations and new builds.
Window Sizes Explained: Height × Width
All SJRV window sizes listed by VanDIY are expressed as Height × Width (H × W), in millimetres.
The first number is the height. The second number is the width.
| Listed size — H × W | Height | Width |
|---|---|---|
| 350 × 500mm | 350mm high | 500mm wide |
| 500 × 350mm | 500mm high | 350mm wide |
| 550 × 700mm | 550mm high | 700mm wide |
| 800 × 1000mm | 800mm high | 1000mm wide |
A 350 × 500mm window and a 500 × 350mm window have different orientations. They are not interchangeable sizes.
Use Height × Width when recording measurements, selecting a product or requesting a quote.
Opening Size and Overall Frame Size
The wall cut-out is the opening through the caravan wall. The overall frame is larger because it overlaps that opening.
Measure the opening rather than the glass, acrylic panel or outside frame. Match the chosen model’s nominal size, required installation clearance and corner shape to its dimension drawing.
When recording dimensions, keep these separate:
- Wall opening: Height × Width.
- Required installation cut-out: Height × Width.
- Overall frame dimensions: Height × Width.
- Wall thickness: measured separately.
For example, 350 × 500mm identifies the window’s nominal size and orientation. It does not mean the outside frame measures exactly 350 × 500mm.
Read our guide to measuring a caravan window cut-out for the measuring process.
Double-Glazed Acrylic Caravan Windows
SJRV windows use double-glazed flat acrylic panels with UV-resistant construction.
The double-layer design helps reduce heat transfer, while acrylic provides a lightweight glazing option for caravan and RV installations.
The glazing works alongside the frame seals and integrated blind to manage comfort, light and privacy.
Aluminium Frames and Weather Seals
The SJRV range uses a powder-coated black aluminium alloy outer frame and a white aluminium alloy inner frame.
An EPDM rubber seal around the frame forms part of the weather-sealing system. Correct mounting and installation sealing remain essential to a weatherproof fit.
The black exterior frame provides a consistent appearance when fitting several window sizes throughout a caravan.
Push-Out Opening and Supporting Struts
The hinged acrylic panel pushes outward to provide ventilation.
Supporting struts hold the panel open at the required position, while push-button locking handles secure it when closed.
This layout gives access to airflow without a sliding panel occupying part of the opening. Allow room outside for the window to open.
Close and secure windows before travelling.
Integrated Block-Out Blind and Flyscreen
Each SJRV window includes a block-out blind and insect screen in the interior assembly.
The blind provides privacy and reduces unwanted light. Its reflective backing helps manage incoming sunlight.
The flyscreen allows ventilation while helping keep insects outside. The blind and screen can operate independently or connect together for positioning.
Radius or Square-Corner Profiles?
The SJRV range includes radius-corner and square-corner styles, with availability depending on the window size.
A radius profile has rounded corners. A square-corner profile has a different corner shape and must be matched to the installation.
For a replacement, record the existing opening’s corner shape as well as its Height × Width. Two windows with the same nominal dimensions can require different corner treatment.
Choose the available profile that suits the opening and appearance of your caravan.
Wall Thickness and Installation Fit
Wall thickness affects how the outer and inner assemblies fit together.
SJRV currently lists these wall thickness ranges:
| Window profile | Listed wall thickness |
|---|---|
| Radius-corner flat acrylic range | 25–40mm |
| Square-corner flat acrylic range | 30–40mm |
Measure the complete wall thickness at the opening, including the internal and external wall surfaces.
For a replacement, also allow room inside for the blind and screen assembly and outside for the opening panel.
Our caravan window installation guide explains the general fitting process.
Choosing Window Sizes for Different Spaces
Think about the wall space and how the room will be used.
A compact window can provide light and ventilation where cabinetry limits the available opening. Wider windows suit areas where a broader view or more daylight is wanted.
The range includes both landscape and portrait proportions. Always read the dimensions as Height × Width to distinguish them.
Examples from the range include:
- 350 × 500mm — 350mm high × 500mm wide.
- 500 × 350mm — 500mm high × 350mm wide.
- 550 × 700mm — 550mm high × 700mm wide.
- 800 × 1000mm — 800mm high × 1000mm wide.

Replacing a Caravan Door Too?
Door replacement involves a separate set of measurements and features.
Record the doorway opening, wall thickness, corner shape, hinge side and available clearance. Consider how the door and any screen assembly will open around nearby windows, awnings and fittings.
For help matching a replacement, send VanDIY the opening measurements and clear photographs of the existing installation.
Frequently Asked Questions
Are VanDIY window sizes listed as Height × Width?

Are SJRV flat acrylic windows double glazed?
Yes. The range uses double-glazed flat acrylic panels.
Do the windows include a block-out blind and flyscreen?
Yes. Both are integrated into the interior assembly for privacy, light control and insect screening.

Yes. The hinged panel pushes outward, with supporting struts holding it in an open position.
Are radius and square-corner styles available?
Yes. Both styles are offered within the range, with profile availability depending on the selected size.
Is a 350 × 500mm window the same as a 500 × 350mm window?
No. The first is 350mm high and 500mm wide. The second is 500mm high and 350mm wide.
Should I order using only the glass or acrylic panel measurement?
